Why are your softgels black?
The black colour of our softgels is intentional. We use a naturally derived caramel colour in the softgel shell to help block light, which can accelerate the oxidation and degradation of astaxanthin over time. By reducing light exposure, the dark shell helps protect the sensitive astaxanthin oil inside, supporting its stability, freshness, and potency throughout the product's shelf life.
The colour of the shell does not affect the quality or safety of the product—it is simply part of our commitment to protecting this premium natural ingredient.
Is the black color natural?
The black colour of the softgel shell comes from caramel, a naturally derived food colouring that is added to help block light and protect the astaxanthin inside from oxidation. This added protection helps maintain the product's freshness, stability, and potency throughout its shelf life.
The colour is a functional feature of the capsule and does not affect the safety or quality of the product.
Why is your product more expensive than other brands?
Natural astaxanthin is significantly more expensive to produce than many common supplement ingredients. It requires carefully controlled microalgae cultivation and advanced supercritical CO₂ extraction. We also use premium blister packaging that individually seals each softgel for maximum freshness. Is your astaxanthin vegan?
The astaxanthin itself is always vegan because it is naturally derived from microalgae.
Astaxanthin Pure is completely vegan, including the softgel shell.
All-In-One is not vegan because it contains fish oil (EPA/DHA) and a bovine gelatin softgel.
Is it non-GMO?

How many softgels should I take?

Should I take it with food?

Morning or evening?
Whichever you'll remember consistently, as long as it's with a meal that contains fat. Consistency matters more than time of day.
Can I take it on an empty stomach?
You can, but you shouldn't — absorption will be substantially lower without dietary fat. If you take supplements first thing, pair them with something containing fat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Nothing concerning. Just resume your normal two softgels the next day. Don't double up to compensate. Astaxanthin's benefits come from steady accumulation over time, so an occasional missed day makes little difference.
Can I take two capsules together?

Yes, it's designed for long-term daily use. In fact consistency is necessary: astaxanthin's antioxidant protection is only active while it's present in your system, so levels and benefits decline gradually if you stop.
Can children take it?
Astadaily products are suitable for adults and adolescents. Natural astaxanthin has been evaluated in human clinical studies involving teenagers. Children 11 years of age and older may take Astadaily. For children under 11 years old, or with an underlying condition/taking medication, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before use.
Can seniors take it?
Yes. Human clinical studies have evaluated doses of up to 40 mg per day without significant safety concerns. However, higher doses have not been consistently shown to provide greater benefits. Can I overdose?

Can I take it with CoQ10?

Can I take it with lutein?

How should I store it?
In a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Astaxanthin is sensitive to heat, light, oxygen and humidity, which is why each softgel is individually sealed until you take it.
Does it need refrigeration?
No. Room temperature in a cool, dry place is fine. Avoid repeated temperature swings — for example, don't leave it in a car, where temperatures rise quickly even in mild weather.
Can I travel with it?
Yes, and the blister packaging is designed for it. Individually sealed strips won't melt into a sticky mass the way loose softgels in a bottle can in humid or hot conditions, and you can tear off only the days you need. Keep them in the original packaging so dosage and expiry information stays with the product.
What is the shelf life?
Astadaily products have a 2-year shelf life when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Can I use it after the expiry date?
We recommend using Astadaily before the expiry date to ensure you receive the full labeled amount of natural astaxanthin.
While an expired product is not expected to become harmful simply because it has passed its expiry date, astaxanthin gradually oxidizes over time. As a result, each softgel may contain less astaxanthin than the amount stated on the label, reducing its effectiveness.
